Grading scale chart
Turn every possible score into a percentage and grade using the thresholds you choose. Edit the example scale, then print a chart for your exam.
Build your score-to-grade chart
Set the possible marks and your school's minimum percentage for each grade.
Example scale only: A 90%, B 80%, C 70%, D 60%, F 0%. Grading policies differ between schools and exams. Check your rules before using or sharing the chart.

Grades use the exact, unrounded score percentage. Only the percentage shown in the chart is rounded to one decimal place.
How to use this grading scale chart
- Enter the total possible marks on the paper.
- Replace the labelled example with your school's grade names and minimum percentages.
- Review the chart, especially scores around each boundary, then print it.
The chart covers whole-mark scores from full marks down to zero. For example, with 50 possible marks and an A threshold of 90%, a score of 45 earns A. A score of 44 is 88% and falls into the next qualifying grade.
Why the displayed percentage may look like a boundary
The grade is assigned before the percentage is rounded for display. If the minimum is 66.67%, a score of 2 out of 3 is about 66.6667% and does not reach that threshold, even though the chart displays 66.7%. This avoids changing a grade because of display rounding.
Use the chart alongside your exam workflow
Plan the marks and sections with the exam paper template or test blueprint. After an exam, the item analysis calculator helps review individual questions. Examiar's exam builder creates papers and answer keys; this separate free tool converts whole-mark scores according to the scale you enter. It does not grade student responses or decide your school's policy.
